Wardrobe DOs & Don'ts Quick List
DO:
- Choose a complimentary color palette to style each family member.
- Wear clothing you feel comfortable in and that fits you.
- Bring at least two wardrobe changes and layer with accessories if you are going on location.
- Choose select pieces of jewelry to wear especially if they have meaning.
- Bring comfortable footwear or prepare to be shoeless.
DON'T
- Choose the same outfit for each family member.
- Wear clothing with heavy patterns, visible logos or distracting colors.
- Wear baggy or loose clothing.
- Wear distracting jewelry or giant watches.
More Helpful Tips
Do:
- SLEEP
Eyes are less puffy and dark circles are less noticeable after a good night's sleep. - EXFOLIATE
A professional facial is amazing but a simple natural oatmeal bar with a wash cloth will do, or favorite scrub. This will help bring forth plump new cells to the surface and give you a glow. Be sure to do it the night before if you tend to get red. - MOISTURIZE
Hydrate inside and out the night before and prior to your photography session. Avoid alcohol the night before (dehydrates skin). - STAY NATURAL
Use neutral natural colors on nails and make-up (less is more). If you tend to have shiny skin, bring a translucent powder with you for touch ups. If you are not having your hair done before session you can use soft curlers on clean hair the night before session to give a natural body to your hair and it helps soften the ends. - EAT!
If you don't eat before then bring a snack especially for the kids. There is nothing worse than an unhappy tummy. - STRESS FREE
Give yourself plenty of time before and after session so that you are not rushed or stressed. In fact, make a day of it and have fun taking care of you!
Put your best foot forward by:
- Avoiding, shinny, shimmer or sparkly make up of any kind
- Avoiding neon colors (including nails)
- Remembering that undergarments can make or break the day....nudes are best. If you desire some shaping, make sure you bring garments that accentuate your assets
- Avoid ill fitting or outfits that detract from you and your outerwear.
- Considering how shoes may change your height when posing with others. They generally not seen in portraits but bring something suitable to outfit that is comfortable and easy to slip in and out of.
With all that said, you are now ready to look fabulous for your session!
