Look for all of the prom magazine issues that will be popping up for a fresh look at what's hot for the 2017 prom season and search magazines online to find great tips like 50 Best Prom Beauty Tips You Haven't Heard Before by Seventeen magazine. 2. Nail those Pre-Prom Photos!
We've all seen them and many of us have our own horrible pre-prom photos that mom, dad or uncle Bob took. You know...the ones with the awkward stiff poses, bad angles and silly props? Check out this funny and very helpful article we found on the Creative Live Blog and avoid the Prom Hall of Shame. Your children will thank you for it. 6 Tips for Perfect Prom Photos by Hanna Brooks Olsen.
Better yet, leave the picture taking to a professional photographer. While they capture these special memories you'll be free to soak in the excitement and even get in on some of the behind the scenes prom prep action. As a parent, you more than anyone knows just how quickly children grow. So think about not spending this special night behind a camera. Instead be present and empty handed for last minutes hugs and kisses.

3. Talk with Your Family
Yes, we saved the best tip for last. Your daughter may not realize it but who better to seek advice from than family? Hearing experiences and stories from those you look up to and love is not only a great way to include everyone in the prom experience, it may even be helpful. Not to mention girls with older sisters know for a fact they can always count on them for an honest fashion opinion. :)
Prom Reflection with Rosie Razo
Hi Rosie! Tell us the year and theme of your high school prom?
Rosie: 2012 and Hollywood!
Describe your fabulous prom look.
Rosie: I wanted my overall look to have a vintage 1920s Hollywood glam. My mom helped me shop. I found the perfect long red dress that was both classical and elegant. I had my hair pined up with soft curls and braided to the side. I kept my makeup simple and light but with bright red lips that popped and completed the look.
What was your best prom memory?
Rosie: All of my prom was fun and exciting! I loved getting my hair and makeup done and taking pictures with my friends. My fondest memory would have to be when the music began and everyone ran to the dance floor. I remember specifically hearing the Cha Cha slide playing which is the perfect party anthem. The dance floor was packed and all of my friends and classmates were dancing and singing. At one point I remember looking around hoping that the night would never end.
Do you have any prom regrets?
Rosie: Yes! Time management! I waited until the last minute to get my dress which caused a lot of extra stress.
Any tips for future prom goers?
Rosie: Be sure to allow yourself plenty of time for the important things like shopping for the perfect dress and making your hair and make up appointments ahead of time. You definitely want to focus on the experience and not be be stressed out. And be sure to take in every moment. The memories you create with your friends will last a lifetime.
I couldn't find a picture from my senior prom so here is one that I went to when I was a sophomore. I designed my own dress "Pretty in Pink" style and had it made. One of my favorite prom memories was staying out late after the dance and having a big pancake breakfast with all of my friends.
Thank you Rosie for sharing your prom experience! To all of the mothers, daughters and sons out there, we at Blossom Blue Photography wish you a happy and safe prom experience!
